Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has revealed why Princess Leia and Han Solo split up. After getting together in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, last year's release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw that Princess Leia and Han Solo had split up. The Force Awakens never explained the reasoning for the split, with most fans assuming it had something to do with Kylo Ren siding with the dark side. However, speaking at the Saskatoon Comic & Entertainment Expo, Fisher finally revealed the reason for the break-up. Getty As pointed out by Digital Spy, Fisher said, "He smuggled way too much. And girls, I know you don't want your husband smuggling, do you?" She continued, "Hanging out with the hairy guy [Chewbacca] too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that. He wouldn't take me on the hyperspace thing enough," she said, before adding, "that's a euphemism." Meanwhile, Disney chief executive Bob Iger has confirmed that the third film in the stand-alone "anthology" of Star Wars films will be released in 2020. Speaking at a Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference last week (September 21; as reported by The Guardian), Iger confirmed that he'd hired a writer for the as-yet-untitled film; a project that appears to be at its earliest possible stage.

Jimi Hendrix's younger brother Leon Hendrix has opened up about their family life and the inspirations which led to Jimi's music career. Leon Hendrix's book 'Jimi Hendrix: A Brother's Story' was published in 2012. He also plays in the Leon Hendrix Band, who have released two albums. Speaking to The Guardian, Leon says that Jimi "looked after" him, explaining that he "never missed a meal". He continued, "he looked out for me like an elder-brother-father; he made me what you English call ‘tea’ and made sure I was okay. And sometimes, we used to sneak off to Mom’s for dinner." Getty Leon says the music simply came from inspiration, explaining, "as in ‘spirit’, as in ‘in-spirit-ation’. It’s in the wind. I was there when Jimi was a boy, and he’d play with a broom, his first guitar. And Pa would come home and see the straw and shit from the broom on the floor, because Jimi’d been doing acrobatics with his his broom-guitar, and Jimi’d get a whuppin’." He continued to explain that "music has no body," remembering that when Jimi was playing, he’d "try to conjure up the sound with his fingers – where is it?". "Once, when we were little, Jimi took a radio apart, trying to find the music inside it. We lost the screwdriver behind the sofa and couldn’t put it back together, and that was another whuppin’," he said.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder shared the stage last night (September 24) at New York's Global Citizen Festival. The pair came together to perform three songs; Pearl Jam’s 'Nothingman', Crowded House’s 'Don’t Dream It’s Over', and Patti Smith’s 'People Have The Power'. Taking place in Central Park, the festival also welcomed performances from Rihanna and Metallica, with hosts including actors Hugh Jackman and Neil Patrick Harris. Eddie Vedder and his Pearl Jam bandmates duetted with Beyoncé during the 2015 Global Citizen Festival for a cover of 'Redemption Song' at the festival. Meanwhile, Coldplay have just released a Blu-Ray edition of their album ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ (September 23). The release sees the album presented in 5.1 Surround Sound, which Coldplay’s producer says is the ultimate format for the album. Rik Simpson, who co-produced ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ with Stargate, said: “The album was always conceived by the band as a dreamlike, kaleidoscopic sweep of music so it was fantastic to be able to take it to its furthest conclusion with a trip into a surround-sound dreamscape.”

Morrissey covered the Ramones last night (September 24) during his performance at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre. Morrissey curated a special Ramones record store day release in 2014, with the compilation described on the RSD website as 'Morrissey's experience of listening to the band for the first time'. Last night, he covered the Ramones' 'Judy Is A Punk' during the encore of his performance. You can watch a fan-filmed video below. As pointed out by Dangerous Minds, Morrissey wrote in an 1976 issue of Melody Maker, "The Ramones are the latest bumptious band of degenerate no-talents whose most notable achievement to date is their ability to advance beyond the boundaries of New York City, and purely on the strength of a spate of convincing literature projecting the Ramones as God’s gift to rock music." However, it was pointed out by Punk News that Morrissey later regretted his comments, stating "Three days after writing that Ramones piece, I realized that my love for the Ramones would out-live time itself. And it shall." Meanwhile, Morrissey launched an MPORIUM pop-up shop at Sugar Mutts Rescue this weekend. A percentage of profits will be going to the dog adoption center in Brooklyn, New York.

Nirvana's 'Nevermind' was released on September 24 1991, marking this weekend as it's 25th anniversary. The album cover features an infant Spencer Elden, who has recreated the pose for the album's anniversary. Elden – who is now 25 years old – jumped into a pool at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena, California, with the photo taken by John Chapple. "I said to the photographer, 'Let’s do it naked.' But he thought that would be weird, so I wore my swim shorts," Elden told the New York Post. You can see the anniversary image below. It’s strange that I did this for five minutes when I was four months old and it became this really iconic image," he said Speaking to The Guardian in 2015, Elden said "I don’t think my parents really gave my taking part in this shoot too much thought. They knew who Nirvana were, but weren’t really into the grunge scene. I was four months old and my dad was attending art school at the time, and his friends would often ask for help with their projects." He continued, "so his friend the photographer Kirk Weddle called him and said, “Do you want to make some money today and throw your kid in the pool?” And he agreed. My parents took me down there, apparently they blew in my face to stimulate my gag reflex, dunked me in, took some pictures, and pulled me out. And that was it. They were paid $200 and went to eat tacos afterwards. No big deal."

The state of California has passed a law that requires entertainment sites to remove, or not post at all, an actor's age or birthday if they request them to. Starting on January 1, 2017, sites that allow paid subscribers to post information for potential employers such as headshots or CVs will have to remove any information relating to age if an entertainer decides they do not want it to be listed. The legislation, which was signed off by Governor Jerry Brown yesterday (September 24), applies to people working in all entertainment jobs, not just actors. The move comes as an attempt to prevent age discrimination. "Even though it is against both federal and state law, age discrimination persists in the entertainment industry," said Majority Leader Ian Calderon in a statement. "AB 1687 provides the necessary tools to remove age information from online profiles on employment referral websites to help prevent this type of discrimination." As The Hollywood Reporter reports, those in the technology industry are less happy about the new law, calling it a violation of free speech. "We are disappointed that AB 1687 was signed into law today," said Noah Theran, a spokesperson for the Internet Association. "We remain concerned with the bill and the precedent it will set of suppressing factual information on the internet." Calderon said the legislation was intended more to help actors who aren't well-known and not household names already. "While age information for Hollywood's biggest stars is readily available from other online sources, this bill is aimed at protecting lesser known actors and actresses competing for smaller roles," he said. "These actors should not be excluded from auditioning simply based on their age."
