Ryan Gosling is reportedly being "courted" to play Neil Armstrong in an upcoming biopic. Whiplash's Damien Chazelle is set to direct the film, which is titled First Man, from a script by Spotlight/The Fifth Estate screenwriter Josh Singer. The film is based on James Hansen's biography of the legendary astronaut, First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong. Gosling and Chazelle are already working together on La La Land, a musical film in which Gosling stars as a jazz pianist, and now Deadline reports that the director wants him for the Armstrong biopic too. Ohio-born Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon on July 21, 1969, famously saying: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." He died in August 2012 at the age of 82 from complications arising after coronary artery bypass surgery. Meanwhile, Gosling has recently confirmed rumours that he is attached to star in the long-planned sequel to Blade Runner. However, the actor did not reveal his character's name or any plot details, joking: "There's a chip in me and if I say anything more, I'll explode."
