The Underworld sequel – starring Kate Beckinsale – has been pushed back to the beginning of 2017, after it was originally set to be released just before Halloween on October 14.
Depicting the tale of vampires-versus-werewolves, Beckinsale portrays the vampire Selene. She has appeared in Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and Underworld: Awakening.
The sixth sequel, Underworld: Blood Wars, sees the return of Beckinsale, along with Theo James as David – a Vampire-Corvinus Strain Hybrid, and Selene's protégé and ally.
This will be the first film directed by German cinematographer Anna Foerster, working with a screenplay by Cory Goodman.
According to Variety, the film has been pushed back to a January 2017 release. Trent Garrett, Tobias Menzies, Lara Pulver, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James and Charles Dance are also starring.
Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing along with David Kern, Len Wiseman and Richard S. Wright. Variety states that the first four films have grossed $460 million worldwide.
